Hello and welcome to my first blog post! Hurray!
Today, I ventured into the city to meet up with my friend, Hannah, who just got back from a long trip to Switzerland and other parts of Europe, for a catch up and find listen to her traveling stories (and nightmares!)
First, we had a little nosy at the suitcase rummage (for those who aren't familiar with what suitcase rummage is, it is basically where a bunch of people bring old clothes, shoes, books etc. that they are wanting to part ways with into the city and sell them for small amounts of money. Kind of like op shopping!) I bought a few things.. Two skirts and a shirt which cost me a whopping $14 in total! One of the pieces hadn't even been worn and still had the price tag on it!
Then for a bit of shopping on Queen Street. As I have been working so hard lately and haven't had much time to spend any of my hard earned money I thought today was the perfect opportunity to get in some retail therapy!
After parting ways with our money (well, mostly mine as I was doing all of the shopping), was the main highlight of the day! We planned to get coffee at a cute little cafe that I had been eying off for a while now. This cafe was Bonsai Botanika. Boy, am I happy we went there! I absolutely loved it there!
Bonsai Botanika has three levels, the first being the cafe and where you
place your order. The second was a bar and grill serving Japanese cuisine. And the
third level was closed off when we visited but I am assuming it was more seating for
when it gets busy. The interior is decked out in fake grass and crates - it had a real "marketplace" kind of feel to it!
I ordered a skinny latte with white chocolate ganache and Hannah ordered a skinny flat white. The drinks came out in awesome double walled glasses and mine came with a flask full of white chocolate on the side. It felt like I was some kind of scientist.. So cool! The coffee quality and taste was absolutely divine. I would happily down those coffees 24/7.. Sleep is overrated anyway, isn't it?
We didn't order anything from the bar and grill but I know that I will be rushing back to try some of the food! I have already decided what I will order when I make the trip back!

My ratings:
Food - yet to try.. keep an eye out for a future post! Although the coffee was 9.5/10
Service - Not the greatest. I felt like the girl at the register didn't understand me. And when I handed my card over to pay, she automatically put it through as savings, when it was meant to be credit. (I hate when people do that!) 3/10 Although, don't let that scare you off.. The coffee outweighed the service. Ordering was very quick.
Value - My coffee came to a total of $7.10, which is quite expensive for a cup of coffee. But it was delicious! The white chocolate ganache cost $3 extra plus 30c surchage for being under the minimum amount on card. 7/10
Atmosphere - Very inviting and cool! 8/10
So if you're into quirky cafes with an awesome atmosphere and exceptional coffee, then head to Bonsai Botanika!
